Last Sunday, the title of our Pastor's message was "The Missing Ingredient". As my friend and I were attentively listening to the message our Pastor gave this scripture from Mark 8:35, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it". We looked at each other with this "It's a God thing" look because earlier in the week my friend shared this scripture with me. In addition, she read the commentary's notes which said, "To preserve one's life eternally, one must surrender earthly possessions and relationships Held So Dearly".
Are you holding something or someone so dearly? So close that it or they are closer to you than God.
Maybe it's your house, car, job, wardrobe. Maybe it's your friends, mother, father, children, or even your spouse that's being Held So Dearly.
You maybe thinking, what's wrong with holding these things or people near to my heart?
I must remind you that in a second all those possessions can be lost and those near and dear to your heart can break it.
But there is One who we can always trust and depend on, who will never leave us nor forsake us. God is the only one that should be Held So Dearly and remember,
"To preserve one's life eternally, one must surrender earthly possessions and relationships Held So Dearly"
